How Do I Create a Family Management Company?

  1. Choose a name for your family management company. It should follow theme of offering contract services for a corporation, ex. Smith Business Services, ABC Office Management, Etc.
  2. File a DBA (Doing Business As) or FBN (Fictitious Business Name) with the county recorder of the county in which your business is located.
  3. Obtain a separate Taxpayer ID if you don’t want to use your personal Social Security Number (OPTIONAL).
  4. Open a business bank account.
  5. Invoice your corporation for services rendered.
  6. Pay your children from the family management company for services performed.
  7. Your corporation will issue a 1099 to your family management company.

How Much Can I Pay My Child to Work For My Business in 2023?
